As the demand for imaging services grows, healthcare organizations face radiologist shortages, delaying patient care. Ryan Majoria, M.D., a practicing radiologist in Baton Rouge, encountered this firsthand. His radiologists were overwhelmed by surges in demand with no way to efficiently bring in extra staff or streamline compensation.
Ryan needed a solution that could dynamically connect radiologists to available work, distribute studies efficiently, and ensure prompt payments—all while maintaining HIPAA compliance.

Hospitals struggle to scale radiology labor during peak demand. The process is mostly manual - texts, phone calls, and admin tasks - leading to delays. Tracking RVUs (Relative Value Units), the basis for radiologists’ compensation, is cumbersome and offline, causing payment delays that demotivate staff.
We built Code Yellow, a cloud platform that automates on-demand radiology workflows, RVU tracking, and payments, maintaining full HIPAA compliance.
On-Demand Workforce: Hospitals signal a “Code Yellow” to indicate surges in radiology work. Radiologists receive real-time SMS and email alerts, review studies via integrated PACS, and respond immediately.
PACS Integration: Code Yellow integrates with PACS, letting radiologists review studies within their workflows. We leveraged FHIR and HL7 standards for interoperability.
RVU Tracking & Instant Payments: The platform tracks RVUs automatically and calculates earnings as soon as studies are completed. Radiologists can view their earnings in real time and cash out via Stripe.
We worked closely with Ryan to prioritize key features for the initial version. The focus was on:
Real-time alerts
PACS integration
RVU tracking
Group management and targeted alerting
Full HIPAA compliance
The app was deployed at a regional medical center, replacing manual group texts with a dynamic, automated system that allowed for efficient radiologist management.
Since implementing Code Yellow, Ryan’s team has seen a marked improvement in how radiology work is distributed and completed during surges. Key results include:
Reduced imaging study turnaround during peak hours.
Improved radiologist satisfaction with flexible work and instant payments.
Greater efficiency managing hospitals and radiologists through a unified system.
Looking ahead, we are continuing to enable more advanced features that will make Code Yellow a complete suite for radiology staff management. This includes:
Mobile PACS viewer for radiologists to work on-the-go.
Seamless integrations with appointment scheduling, EHRs, and other medical systems
Real-time communication between radiologists and referring physicians
