OVERVIEW

Building an MVP to drive gym
membership, improve health,
and inspire long-term results.

CrossFit Apollo, a specialized gym in Las Vegas, developed and tested a 10-week habit-building program amongst members to drive real, life-changing results beyond the gym. Difficult to adhere to with pen and paper, however, we were hired to brainstorm digital strategy for the program, design frictionless architecture, and develop essential features to inspire member wellness, increase inactive membership engagement, and drive new membership revenue.

Taking inspiration from the CrossFit culture, we designed an MVP that put first education around the importance of good habits, and only then focused on reinforcing tracking efforts. We embraced design that promoted easy engagement and minimal effort to track habits, read articles, and compete with friends so that users would remain at the center of their journey to better health, not the app itself.

We knew that our target users were busy, and many of them had tried and failed at tracking habits before. By designing a more effective tracker without bells and whistles, we could promote “in-and-out” use of the app for even the busiest, ultimately keeping them focused on their gym goals, too.

They listened and collaborated, brainstorming to build a product that brought their knowledge and our vision together. We had more people sign-up for our current challenge than who signed-up in all of last year’s challenges combined. We only hear rave reviews with the website Topflight Apps built. They did an amazing job.
